The fundraising event for Lady Fatima Academy School was a resounding success, bringing together families, friends, and community members for a day of fun and fundraising. The event featured a wide range of activities. It started with a beautfuil recitation of the Quran from LFA student, Ali Taqi, followed by a remarkable opening speech by the School CEO, Alireza Zehtab. A fun game hosted by event MCs, Aziz and Ammar, entertained the attendees, and a captivating performance by our talented LFA students added to the enjoyment. Parents’ presentations by Brother Wisam and Brother Naqvi delivered insightful presentations, shedding light on the invaluable contributions of our school community. A financial overview presentation by our Treasurer, board member Brother Ali Dhea, provided transparency, and a well-informed presentation showcasing LFA’s vision was delivered by our lovely Principal, Sister Tahira Jafar, and Board Member and Religion leader, Sister Zainab Latif. The event shone with auction items where bidding never ceased and continued until the end, led by our stellar MCs.

Thanks to our donors, we reached our goal. Throughout the night, the spirit of community support was palpable as attendees came together to enjoy the festivities and contribute to a worthy cause. The event raised significant funds to support the school’s educational programs, extracurricular activities, and classroom resources, ensuring that students have access to enriching learning experiences. It was a fantastic celebration of community spirit and generosity, demonstrating the power of coming together to make a positive impact on education.

The Lady Fatima Academy School fundraising event was a heartwarming success, thanks to the amazing support of the Calgary community that gave so sincerely and generously.

All of us at Lady Fatima Academy, including the board, the teachers, parents and of course the students were taken aback with the overwhelming generosity of our community with donations reaching up to $148,000 within the hour. 

The much needed funds will go towards the following needs: 

1- increasing transportation options for our growing school student population to serve more quadrants and locations.

2- increasing classroom equipment and technology as our classes increase in number and size.

3- increase opportunities for low income families to get equal access to enroll at Lady Fatima Academy with student scholarships.

We thank everyone’s support in making Lady Fatima Academy a great place to learn for our future leaders. Every contribution in all its forms will play a crucial role in shaping a brighter future for the Shia students of our community for a better guided and brighter future.

The primary goal of the pottery workshop is to foster creativity, students not only mold clay but also shape their artistic identities. This immersive experience goes beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on the way students perceive art and creativity. The class introduces various techniques, allowing students to experiment and discover their preferred styles of expression. As they navigate these technical aspects, students gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind the pieces they create.

Diving deep into the world of dinosaur mysteries, our students engaged in a workshop where they examined fossil casts and explored the differences in the teeth of different dinosaurs. To top it off, they excavated their own mini dinosaurs, bringing home a stained plaster dinosaur tooth as a souvenir. Delving into lessons from the past, we uncovered the profound wisdom of creation imparted by the great Almighty and we learned valuable insights that guide us on our journey forward.

As we commemorated our Imam Mahdi’s (AS) birthday on Friday the 15th of Shaban 255 A.H. at Lady Fatima Academy School, we were honoured to be connected with him. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Quranic verses and insightful guidance from Moulana Syed Hadi Hassan Rizvi. Engaging the audience, students presented a meaningful Q&A session, sharing knowledge about the Imam’s life. Our talented students performed a beautiful play emphasizing seeking help from our Imam in times of trouble. This was followed by the heartfelt recitation of the “ Call Imam Mahdi ” song.  The event ended with a joyous celebration with gifts and cake.

In commemoration of Imam Ali’s(AS) birthday, we reflected upon his identity and the profound values he championed. We seek to instill these timeless virtues in the hearts and minds of our children, ensuring that his legacy resonates through generations. Our children had a delightful time participating in a scavenger hunt, where they eagerly sought out significant symbols associated with our Imam. From locating his birthplace – the Kaaba, to identifying his iconic two-edged sword and the lion representing his name, and acknowledging his blessed shrine in Najaf. The celebration continued with a delicious cake, and each student went home with enjoyable and meaningful gifts.

In the recent fire safety initiative at our school, students took a proactive step towards ensuring the safety of our learning environment. Engaging in demonstrations, and discussions, students gained invaluable insights into vital fire safety measures. The program, led by an experienced fire safety expert from Calgary Fire Department, covered a range of topics, including the importance of early detection, swift evacuation procedures, and the proper utilization of fire extinguishers by adults. Through hands-on worksheets and real-world scenarios, students not only absorbed theoretical knowledge but also developed practical knowledge that are essential in emergency situations. Fire safety empowered our students to be vigilant, responsible, and well-prepared guardians of safety within our school community.

“Read in the name of your GOD ”. In following Allah’s command, we strive to create a successful professional learning culture for our students. We are lucky to be a five minute walk away from Calgary Public Library – Central branch, giving our students an opportunity to visit the library weekly to enhance the quality of their learning. These visits help ignite the students’ passion and curiosity and discovery. It will lead them to become achievers, successful and admirable role models.
